Work-free society

I don't think it's possible to have a "work-free society" quite yet.. Even if we did have the technological capability, I don't think our social construct is strong enough to sustain the pressure it would receive if it were to be re-created like that, everything would have to change forever.. You must remember that our actual needs are never the line we draw for our actions, we tend to try and maximize our access to resources way beyond our basic necessities, and this is not just an isolated behavioural defect caused by social insecurities and injustice, it may well be our only means of mental survival, regarding the fact of mortality(you try your best to take as much as possible, and the illusion of getting ahead keeps you going..).. so although the technology might be available in a couple of decades, we need to sort our old habits out in order to enjoy the possibilities of future..

From my point of view, we're already more than advanced enough to replace almost all manual labour with automated machinery, but something's holding us back from realizing it.

It has a lot to do with capitalism too, the short term cost of manual labour is considerably lower than that of a machine, and we know that pure, unchained capitalism cares only for(and needs only)an immediate boost of profits..
